Expedia Group has an exciting opportunity to join its Global Indirect Tax Team as a Senior Manager - Indirect Tax Legislative & Projects, with focus on US sales tax and global occupancy taxes. The Global Indirect Tax Team is part of the broader tax department and corporate finance at Expedia Group.
What you’ll do:
The specific responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Legislative - Perform tax research, and support analysis of pending and newly enacted tax legislation for sales and global occupancy taxes based on Expedia Group priorities, including developing the strategy on how to manage significant legislation targeting platforms.
Operationalize Legislation or Controversy Outcomes - Draft requirements and otherwise manage collaborate with compliance and product teams to manage the workstream to when a new law is passed or a controversy outcome requires changes in processes
Technology and Automation - Support the evolution of tax technology tools and enhancements to advocate for tax laws that simplify and standardize the use of systems use for tax compliance.
Controversy - Support the US Indirect Tax Controversy team by researching issues and preparing technical written and data driven analysis for a variety of indirect audits that create the foundation for a specific audit’s strateg
Business Support - Support the US Indirect Tax Business Support Team by providing US indirect tax analysis as required on a variety of business advisory, financial reporting, and transactional tax data projects.
Who you are:
Experience in tax with a corporate tax department or public accounting firm working at the manager or senior manager level
BA/BS degree in accounting or related field. MA in accounting or JD preferred JD or Masters in tax or accounting is a plus, but not required. CPA or Bar license or actively working towards attainment is a plus, but not required
Experience with U.S. sales tax required. Experience with global occupancy tax preferred
Experience developing and executing strategy, including measuring the success of the strategy and continually monitoring for needed adjustments based on new facts or a changing landscape
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and working with large data sets
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Comfortable working with confidential documents, communications, and analyses, and in the context of litigation
Strong tax research skills
Organized and attentive to detail
Knowledgeable in basic financial accounting and tax rules, regulations, and concepts and the ability to apply these concepts to various business scenarios
Works well independently and in a team environment
Self-starter and diligent problem solver
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
