The Director of Trade shows and Industry Events is a key member of the Experiential Marketing & Events Team. Responsible for overseeing the portfolio of trade shows and industry events we attend, sponsor, and deliver to support growth goals set by the company. This leader will be responsible for the overall trade show strategy, planning, execution, budget management, and team operations. The leader will be responsible for leading a team of event managers, managing workload, creating and improving standard operating procedures, and ensuring excellence in our support and delivery of trade shows across the enterprise.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: In partnership with key stakeholders across marketing, oversees the strategic planning, budget and execution of industry programs and trade shows
- Trade show SME: Support team and partner across marketing and sales stakeholders by being the subject matter expert on trade shows, enabling capabilities, proactively meeting their needs, communicating effectively, and working to continuously improve systems, processes and outcomes.
- Team Leadership: Develop, mentor and coach the team to continuously improve and mature. Demonstrating our expertise and value as we build a center of excellence
- Workflow Management: Develop and implement efficient workflow processes to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of projects and tasks. Document, maintain, update workflows based on current/future system configurations and related processes for trade shows and industry events
- Budget Management: Manage team budgets effectively, tracking expenses, forecasting costs, and optimizing resource allocation to maximize efficiency and productivity
- Resource Management: Coordinate the allocation of resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to support project needs and achieve organizational objectives
- Workload Optimization: Monitor workload volume and distribution across the team, identifying opportunities for optimization and balancing workload to ensure optimal productivity and performance
- Insourcing and Outsourcing Analytics: Evaluate the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of insourcing versus outsourcing certain functions or projects, conducting thorough analytics and providing recommendations to leadership
- Event ROI Measurement: In partnership with Enablement Team, influence development of and implement methodologies for measuring the return on investment (ROI) of industry events and initiatives, analyzing data to assess effectiveness and inform decision-making in direct support of business and growth goals: Driving leads, client meetings and engaging audiences
- Analytics: Utilize data analytics tools and techniques to track key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze trends, and generate insights to drive continuous improvement and informed decision-making
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the team operations, implementing best practices and standardized processes to enhance effectiveness and streamline operations

Required Qualifications:

- 8+ years in planning, organizing, and delivering a corporate presence at B2B trade shows and industry events
- 5+ years managing people working in meeting and events related roles
- 2+ years in a matrixed large corporate setting. You thrive in a fluid and fast-paced environment; able to adapt to changing business needs
- At least one meeting event management certification (CMP, CMM, CTSM, CSEP, CPCE, CGMP, CEM, CEPS, CQEP)
- Advanced level of experience in Microsoft Office productivity tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams, Power Point)
- Experience in budget management, including budget planning, tracking, and optimization
- Proven confident in verbal and written communication with all levels of an organization, external partners, and vendors
- Ability to listen and gather requirements from stakeholders and develop a plan of action with clearly defined deadlines, decision points, and milestones for success
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time for onsite event execution within continental United States
- Proven track record as a highly effective operator with a focus on operational excellence and efficiency
- Proven highly effective analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, analyze trends, and derive actionable insights to inform decision-making
- Demonstrated ability to effectively allocate resources to support project needs and achieve organizational goals
- Proficiency in project management methodologies, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results on time and within budget
- Proven excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Proven highly effective problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges
- Proven meticulous attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and precision in all aspects of work
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Trade show Marketer (CTSM)
- Experience in healthcare and/or healthcare marketing
- Experience with Workfront or similar project management software
Total Compensation. As part of your total compensation package, which includes base, bonus opportunity, PTO and holiday pay, you will also receive these benefits at these rates, not to mention a remote work opportunity and healthy work/life balance.

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $104,700 to $190,400 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
