About Salesforce
We’re Salesforce, the Customer Company, inspiring the future of business with AI+ Data +CRM. Leading with our core values, we help companies across every industry blaze new trails and connect with customers in a whole new way. And, we empower you to be a Trailblazer, too — driving your performance and career growth, charting new paths, and improving the state of the world. If you believe in business as the greatest platform for change and in companies doing well and doing good – you’ve come to the right place.
Intro + ExpectationsWe’re looking for an experienced, resourceful Video / Motion Designer to help cross-functional teams use video storytelling, design and emerging technology to communicate complex ideas quickly with a clear and compelling narrative. This is a multi-disciplinary role which requires a broad understanding of design, storytelling and video skills. We're looking to see how your talent and expertise might fit our team..
Ignite is a customer-facing innovation team within Salesforce. Under the larger team Strategic Growth Studios, we use human-centered design methods alongside Salesforce’s world-class technology to help organizations accelerate growth and digital transformation. Our multi-disciplinary teams combine research, strategy and design to define new experiences for our customers. We then partner with sales, technology and services experts inside and outside of Salesforce to turn these visions into reality.
Our greater team is made up of 70+ Innovation Executives with an expansive collection of expertise including: industry expertise, innovation strategy, communication design, research, video storytelling, ux design, motion design, and more.
As a Video / Motion Designer on the Ignite Team, your work will span ideation, development and production. You will have a great deal of creative control over what you produce and will need to be comfortable leading the production workflow within a culture of collaboration and critique.
You will work with cross-functional teams (sellers, researchers, strategists, developers, and other designers), guiding them through outlining a script and storyboarding. You will then use the various inputs and resources available to you—research footage, stock footage, animated concepts, ux prototypes, future visions, etc—and cut it all together into concise narratives that are clear, interesting, and that customers and internal teams alike will want to take and run with.
A few examples of deliverables you might work on:
- Visualize concepts and craft a narrative around them. Help customers understand new concepts or ideas by building a character—or values-driven story around them. This could be an animated explainer or something that relies heavily on stock footage. Every project will be different but this could be as complex as a full-blown, scripted video production or as simple as looping gifs of user interaction within a presentation.
- Tell the project story and set the tone for a final presentation. Work with a project team to produce a short video (no more than 2-3 min) that distills all of the key elements of the project—purpose, challenges, goals, vision, call-to-action, etc—into something clear, concise, and resonant and does so in a way that clients are excited to share as they socialize the work within their company.
- Document a client relationship for an internal audience. Help other Salesforce teams quickly understand the nature of the work and relationship with a particular customer. This could be for a team working to implement the concepts presented in a vision, other teams that want to understand the project, or just someone at Salesforce that’s curious to know more about how our teams work. It could include interviews of customer stakeholders or SGS team members.
As an Multimedia Producer, you should be able to:
- Put an interesting story together. Work with project teams to develop a script, storyboard, and treatment. Then direct, gather resources, animate, edit or whatever you need to do to produce something your audience cares about.
- Visualize complex concepts and data. Use imagery, illustration, animation, typography, etc. to help customers envision and understand the value of an idea.
- Rapidly iterate within a culture of critique. Clarity over fidelity. Seek and accept feedback from teams often and adjust accordingly. Pivot quickly or start over if necessary.
- Own your own work stream. Self-direct creative decisions and treatments. Be agile, and bring your own personality and flair into it.
- Quickly research and understand a customer’s brand and values. Then interpret them through the work.
- Work with internal and external partners. Collaborate with internal (Salesforce) and external (client) teams (often a combination of account, research, design, strategy, and development).
- Be resourceful. Create assets when appropriate, leverage existing assets when necessary. The inputs and outputs will vary from project to project so your style and workflow will need to be flexible.
- Find patterns and design for the future. Help develop design processes, tools, and culture.
Ideally, we are looking for someone that lives near one of our hubs in Chicago, New York, or San Francisco. Please note you may need to occasionally travel for customer-facing and location-based projects.
Experience and SkillsWe’re looking for someone with either ALL or SOME MIX of these skills...
- A solid foundation in video post-production (non-linear editing and compositing)
- Experience in video pre-production (analogs research, script writing, storyboarding, etc)
- Experience in video production (e.g. camera, lighting, audio capture, etc)
- Experience with animation and/or compositing
- Industry design tools (e.g. Adobe CC, Figma, Final Cur Pro etc)
- A solid understanding of graphic design / typography principals / brand systems
(Understanding what good looks like) - Ability to work in a high-pace and sometimes ambiguous environment
Though not required, we’d also love to hear about any knowledge/experience you have with...
- Voiceover recording and/or performance
- Industry presentation tools (e.g. Google Slides, Keynote, PPT, etc)
- Miro or other live collaboration tools
- AI / VR / AR / 3D tools are a strong plus
