Job Summary: As a Senior Oracle Database Administrator, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining advanced databases for our Satellite Ground Systems. This role demands a collaborative approach, working closely with systems engineers, hardware designers, and software engineers to ensure the delivery of reliable, high-performance database solutions. Due to the security clearance requirement for this opportunity, this position is an onsite position in either State College, PA; Dulles, VA; Richardson, TX; Aurora, CO. Responsibilities to Anticipate: The Senior Oracle Database Administrator will leverage their experience in database administration to spearhead the creation and upkeep of sophisticated database architectures for Satellite Ground Systems. Other responsibilities to anticipate may include:
- Design and optimize performance for large-scale Oracle databases, ensuring their reliability, scalability, and efficient response time.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers and system administrators, to define database requirements and specifications.
- Engage in code review and modification of existing systems for optimization.
- Participate in design reviews, system integration, and contribute to program and project milestones.
- Adhere to and contribute to the development and maintenance of operations concepts, system requirements, and interface management.
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
- Clearance requirements: This position requires an active and transferable TS/SCI CI Poly U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date.
- Five (5) years of experience in Database Administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of RDBMS (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and SQL scripting.
- Experience with either technologies Oracle Label Security (OLS), WebLogic, or Oracle Internet Directory (OID).
- Experience with Oracle Spatial Indexing, and field indexing.
- Required Certification: CompTIA Security+ for Privileged User Access.
- Experience with source control tools such as BitBucket and Git.
- Experience with improving database query response performance.
- Experience in optimizing complex Oracle relational databases of significant size (P 1 Petabytes or larger).
- Experience in developing migration strategies for RDMS systems and automating database processes.
- Support experience for software engineering teams, including schema development for microservice applications and database bottleneck resolution.
- Experience with the Atlassian tool suite.
- Knowledge of satellite communication systems and protocols.
- Familiarity with secure coding practices, especially in defense or aerospace environments.
- Master’s degree in a STEM field is highly desirable.
