Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an experienced level T04 -Systems Engineer Modeling/Sim or Software Engineer to work as a part of our modeling and simulation team on projects based on the AARGM ER missile system. These programs are vital to our national interest and will be relied upon by war fighters in multiple services. We are seeking a candidate who has a broad subset of the skills listed herein to contribute in a variety of ways to our team. This position offers opportunities to work closely with engineers from a range of disciplines, and to broaden an engineer's skill sets. If you have at least 9 years of experience as an engineer, or 7 years with a Masters, and have a background in at least two of software engineering, systems engineering, computer simulations, and technical leadership, please consider continuing your career with us.This position will be located at our Northridge, CA. location. This will be 100% on-site.Job Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will perform software and algorithm design and development for new and existing performance models, threat models, component level simulations, and system level simulations. Products include effects-based simulations, Software in the loop simulations, and hardware in the loop services. System level simulations will include 6DOF kinematic models and sensor performance models.
- The candidate will use simulations for live test event support, operational analysis, mission effectiveness analysis, system performance analysis, and in support of both system software development and system algorithm development. Performance analysis will include use of AJEM lethality models. Operational analysis support will include integration of system level simulations with AJEM.
- The candidate will also contribute to system level requirements analysis and development for the weapons systems we model to determine which system level specifications should be verified via modeling and simulation, and to develop scenarios for those verifications.
- The candidate will also exercise those scenarios to perform the system level verifications. The candidate will also assist in technical leadership as required.
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physics AND 9+ years in software development or modeling, simulation, and analysis of Aerospace Systems, OR MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physics and 7+ years in software development or modeling, simulation, and analysis of Aerospace Systems, OR PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physics and 4+ years in software development or modeling, simulation, and analysis of Aerospace Systems
- Practical experience with C++ or C.
- Experience developing software in a Windows environment
- Demonstrable knowledge in at least 2 of: unit testing, software patterns, regular expressions, linux development, multi-processing, Modeling and Simulation, GNC, MBSE, or SCRUM
- Experience in either a formal or informal technical leadership role, such as product owner, scrum master, tech lead, CM, or in informally stepping in to assist in these roles.
- **Current government issued SECRET level clearance with ability to obtain a SECRET SAP level clearance
- Knowledge of AFSIM development experience in AFSIM development and/or operation
- Knowledge and experience in lethality modeling, particularly in using and developing AJEM lethality models
- Experience porting scientific algorithms or models into C++ or C
- Requirements development, analysis, verification and validation
- Experience in understanding, navigating, and preferably modeling in CAMEO.
- Demonstrable knowledge of python, preferably with a focus on PANDAS and/or SCYPI
- Experience in analysis and development in MATLAB
- Experience using Altassian tool chain (bitbucket, JIRA, etc)
- DevOps
- HPC computing
- Practical experience in Earned Value Management and/or Charge Account Management
- Experience in writing Bids for proposal and/or Bases of Estimates
- Experience with sensor system algorithms or models
- Current SAP and/or SCI clearance
