Mechanical Design Engineering Manager Collins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies company, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry. This position is a manager for the Mechanical Design Engineering team in Collins Aerospace interior engineering department. They will have accountability over a staff of Design Engineers and their deliverables to their supported programs. This manager will also support department activities to improve efficiency, ensure predictable execution, and keep talent staff engaged. This role is eligible for relocation. Primary Responsibilities:
- Direct management of engineering team including hiring, career development and mentoring
- Oversee and lead design activities for support of existing product as well as development of product modifications for commercial aircraft interior monuments.
- Accountable for meeting program requirements including cost and schedule
- Interface with program management and project engineers to assure technical goals are achieved.
- Oversight of all procedures and processes being adhered to by the team
- Implement best practices and improve efficiency
- Responsible for capturing lessons learned and implementing corrective actions.
- Support Pursuit & Order capture activities including bidding & estimation efforts for new programs
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience OR In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
- U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required
- Strong experience with Engineering management in a matrix organization
- Significant experience with Aircraft interior design, retrofit or integration.
- Experience with Earned Value Management
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and champions MSBE best practices
- 2-4 years of experience in Managing an engineering team and/or Mechanical leadership experience.
