Collins Aerospace is seeking an early career electrical design engineer to support the traffic surveillance hardware development group. Collins Aerospace designs, integrates, and certifies commercial avionics products for the Air Transport and Business and Regional aircraft markets. This role will be part of the team developing the next generation of TCAS and Transponder avionics product, working with a small group of hardware engineers. Applicant must have knowledge of the principles and techniques commonly used in electrical development engineering. This position may encompass both new product development and legacy product sustaining support activities. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, self-disciplined, with good communications skills, and a demonstrated ability to work within a multifunctional, multidiscipline team. The candidate will be required to demonstrate flexibility and an ability to coordinate with multiple teams, organizations, suppliers, and customers to achieve a common goal. This is an onsite position based out of our Melbourne, FL site location; may be eligible for relocation. Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and analyze electrical hardware requirements.
- Design and prototype circuits in either Power, Digital, Mixed signal and/or RF disciplines.
- Analyze circuit performance using circuit simulation tools like LT Spice or HyperLynx.
- Design, debug, and test Digital and/or mixed signal Circuits.
- Develop schematics, oversee PCB layouts, and support design drawing development.
- Participate in the build, debug, and test of electrical circuit designs.
- Conduct electrical tests using common lab test equipment.
- Develop verification test plans and procedures to ensure the developed product meets the specified requirements.
- Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, and Manufacturing to ensure robust designs and appropriate testability.
- Support product certification activities.
- Bachelor's degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships)
- Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.
- BSEE or equivalent engineering degree in with an emphasis in electrical hardware design and development
- Knowledge of design, debug, and test of digital and mixed signal circuits.
- Experience with common simulation platforms such as LT Spice, HyperLynx, etc.
- Experience with major types of lab test equipment (O-scopes, pattern generators, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, etc.)
- Experience working with embedded processors, FPGAs, or RF designs.
- Familiarity with simulation & analysis tools (e.g. MATLAB, Simulink)
