Digital Product Lifecycle (DPLC) is a Collins wide digital transformation initiative, integrating and deploying cutting edge capabilities in how product is developed, produced, and supported. The Enterprise Engineering Capabilities team is looking for a highly motivated Systems Engineer to lead model-based system engineering capabilities. Independently, the incumbent will define, analyze, evaluate, develop, implement, integrate, test, and continuously evolve the DPLC competences as new methods and techniques emerge in collaboration with the strategic business units (SBUs), Digital Technologies and other corporate functions such as Operations, Legal, Finance and others as needed. This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. Candidate must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Primary Responsibilities:
- Apply system engineering principles and MBSE tools to lead the development and execution of novel system model-based approaches that define, design, analyze, and document system development.
- Perform SE and MBSE activities including system definition, functional decomposition, requirements development, architectural development and analysis, design synthesis, system analysis, data modeling and architecture development, and test program development.
- Utilize digital engineering tool suites to enable the use of model-based best practices in design and development, acquisition, and system life cycle support.
- Complete system and process development for systems analysis, modeling and simulation techniques and methods.
- Lead stakeholders and sponsors efforts in the application of MBSE to trade space analysis, design, and acquisition.
- Conduct collaborations internally with multi-disciplined software and hardware development, integration, deployment and maintenance teams via meetings, technical exchanges, or programmatic reviews to convey system design, requirements, architecture, traceability, and other systems engineering responsibilities.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
- Must have or be capable of obtaining/maintaining an active U.S. Government security clearance at the Secret level or higher. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.
- Demonstrated experience with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools (CAMEO) for developing architectures and functional analysis.
- Demonstrated experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama, or Polarion
- MATLAB knowledge and experience
- Experience with programming in MATLAB, C/C++, Python, or other programming language
- Advanced knowledge of modern system software development processes
- Significant development experience in one or more of the following technical areas: Electromechanical Hardware, Software, Communications systems, Network and Infrastructure
- Experience working independently or in a team environment.
- Excellent computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Awareness of Agile/Scrum methodologies, DevOps practices (prior experience not a requirement).
