To join this team, you'll need to have a passion for security, and love hands-on systems administration/automation. As a Systems Security Operations Engineer for Gov. Cloud, you will work with various teams, app. owners, and should have a solid understanding of Unix/Linux. Working with multiple teams will require strong core skills with confidence in general networking knowledge and have strong grasp on security concepts. We are looking for an experienced Systems / DevOps engineer, with a focus in monitoring and observability, to join a team of highly skilled Systems, Site Reliability, and DevOps Engineers working on service availability and performance. Our goal is a simple one: ensure maximum availability of Salesforce’s Government Cloud infrastructure through proactive enhancements, adept troubleshooting and ensuring security compliance. If you have a passion for problem solving, quickly diagnosing root causes and ensuring the resiliency of production systems, this role is for you! In this role:
- You will identify and solve for monitoring, alerting, and observability gaps within the Government Cloud data security parameters
- You are strong in big-picture troubleshooting, and are able to grasp how complex systems interact with each other
- You will think around corners to determine, proactively, how we can increase monitoring visibility into our systems, use telemetry data to detect issues before users are impacted, and enable faster incident resolution
- You will use data to provide insights into performance trends, system behavior, and user experience
- You will collaborate with internal teams responsible for many aspects of incident response
- You’ll demonstrate a sense of autonomy and urgency for ownership of your areas and proactively take accountability for progress forward
- You will get a chance to understand how things work with a large-scale production infrastructure within 3rd party cloud service providers
- You will transform human heavy processes into automated solutions
- You will create and maintain detailed documentation
- You will get a chance to improve your influence and collaboration skills working with various other Infrastructure teams across Salesforce
- You will be interacting with a highly innovative and creative team of developers, open-source committers and architects
- You’ll research and find the right tools for the job, and if they don't exist create them
- A related 4 year technical degree required
- 3+ years experience in monitoring tools such as Nagios, Graphite, Datadog, Cloudwatch, Prometheus, Zabbix etc.,
- 2+ years experience with Log Management and Analytics tools such as Splunk / ELK
- 2+ years demonstrated ability working within and building on AWS
- 2+ years working experience scripting/programming language (Shell, Python, Golang, Ruby)
- 2+ years of Linux system engineering experience
- Experience deploying with a CI orchestration service (Jenkins, Spinnaker)
- Development experience in config management (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Terraform)
- A continuous learner and a critical thinker.
- A team player with great communication skills both verbal and written.
