The Role / Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Vice President of Employee Relations to join our Employee Relations Center of Excellence and lead our Americas Employee Relations team. The leader in this role will help build the employee relations functional expertise across the Americas, promoting a positive working environment, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations across the region. The leader in this role will support a seamless and cohesive approach to policy administration, performance management, disciplinary procedures, management of non-compliance investigations and employee separations to confirm the prompt resolution of issues. This role will report to the global SVP of Employee Relations.
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for overseeing employment matters for the Americas region by providing guidance to managers about performance management issues and conducting non-compliance investigations for all complex and escalated issues, or those representing significant risk to the organization.
* Continue to develop a regional team of high performing employee relations professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and development opportunities across the United States, LATAM and Canada and ensure that there is appropriate team collaboration and knowledge sharing to further global Center of Excellence model.
* Oversee employee relations activities across the organization, including performance management, RIFs, terminations, non-IRC Investigations, employee relations inquiries, process improvement and reporting.
* Partner with global team to refine collective approach to documenting, tracking and monitoring matters handled by Employee Relations to enable analytic review of matters to manage risk, determine root cause analysis, and improve employee experience.
* Develop and implement updates to employee relations policies, procedures, and guidelines and develop training for more junior team members.
* Ensure operational consistency by monitoring and reviewing formal documentation and strategies for responding to ER inquiries.
* Develop approach for managing complex, ambiguous, and/or escalated ER issues. Determine when to escalate cases to the relevant HR Regional team, Business Partners, Legal Partners and other stakeholders.
* Build and foster strong partnerships with relevant stakeholders across the business by providing expert advice and guidance on compliance with Moody’s policies, procedures and practices.
* Communicate and ensure understanding by managers and employees of relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies and answer non-standard questions by managers and employees as needed.
* Conduct needs assessment, design, and deliver employee relations training for supervisors in partnership with Talent & Organizational Development and Legal partners.
* Partner and coordinate with internal and external counsel when necessary.
* Collaborate with Service Excellence to drive accountability and process excellence in everything from employee relations case management to delivering on priorities and projects.
* Drive Employee Relations engagement on People Team projects as needed.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree required
* 8+ years of experience in Employee Relations or related field (including employment law)
* Experience building and training cohesive team and managing complex employee relations cases
* Proven experience in managing high volume of ER cases and keeping team focused and motivated
* Experience managing teams with varying levels of skills and experience
* Extensive understanding of HR functions with the ability to uphold the organization’s industry standards, procedures, and policies regarding labor and employment practices
* Excellent facilitation, public speaking, interpersonal and communication skills
* Experience with dispersed workforce
Preferred:
* Strong influencer with the ability to forge relationships, build trust, and partner effectively with internal and external stakeholders
* Ability to adjust styles of communicating to difficult or varying situations while remaining respectful and persuasive in difficult, controversial, and/or confrontational situations
* Experience supporting corporate clients within financial services, a plus
* Exceptional communication, negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills
* Experience managing dispersed team
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $141,000 - $232,100, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
