The Mechanical Design Engineer/Automation Engineer, will support the many aspects of the automated/semi-automated mail-order pharmacy fulfillment operations and projects across the organization, with emphasis in mechanical/mechatronics focused projects such as:
- Production equipment research and development, robotics applications, equipment enhancement/optimization
- Basic to intermediate understanding of interfacing systems such as network, automation components, communication protocols, is necessary to be effective in this role
- Work closely with vendors and cross-functional teams to define, develop, refine/enhance production equipment and processes. This includes integrating various production equipment and process to existing
- This candidate must be able to effectively interact/interface with vendors, contractors, and internal team members/management to manage work plans, and deliverables to achieve engineering objectives
- Research, test, validate, implement new technologies
- Create technical specifications and fabrication drawings, create various reports and pertinent documentation for new and existing production equipment and processes
- Troubleshoot, assess, and improve performance and reliability of equipment and entire system
- This position entails design and fabrication of prototype and production parts/components for functional testing/concept validation/prove-outs/enhancements and implementation utilizing tools such as: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, 3D Printing/Rapid prototyping
- Able to use hand and powered tools
- Programing skillset is a plus. E.g., Python, C++, C#, Structured text for PLC applications. Ladder logic
- Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Engineering or Computer Sciences, Electrical, Mechanical, with 3+ years of experience in an industrial environment
- Experience with mechanical designs via Solidworks and Autocad
- Experience/knowledge/understanding with/of automation equipment and components: belt conveyors, 480vac motors, DC motors, PLCs, Input/output devices, pneumatic components, motion control, robotics applications, vision systems
- Basic to intermediate understanding of interfacing systems such as network, automation components, communication protocols, is necessary to be effective in this role
- Ability to use AutoCAD/SolidWorks to create designs/fabrication drawings work instructions
- Proven ability to effectively interface with vendors, contractors, internal teams, and leadership to manage work plans, and deliverables
- Ability to work onsite in Chandler/Mesa, AZ offices and travel up to 20% of the time to other sites as needed
- 3+ years of experience on projects such as production equipment research and development, robotics applications, and/or equipment enhancement/optimization
- Experience with 6-axis conventional and collaborative robot programming, prototyping, concept prove out, and testing
- Experience with researching, testing, and validating technologies
