DESCRIPTION

The Supply Chain Planner is responsible for planning and maintaining daily supply chain operations across one or more functional areas such as materials, supply planning, inventory, production, logistics, demand management, or order fulfillment. The role ensures internal and external customer expectations are met through effective planning, coordination with stakeholders, and continuous improvement of supply chain processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement planning system strategies to improve planning signals across the supply chain.
  • Execute daily operational planning processes within assigned functional areas.
  • Monitor, analyze, and adjust planning system parameters to ensure optimal performance.
  • Use standardized processes, tools, and information systems to drive consistent planning signals.
  • Analyze and interpret Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify gaps, improvement areas, and action plans.
  • Identify potential supply chain risks or failures during the planning process and proactively mitigate them.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive short-term tactical improvements.
  • Leverage planning systems as the primary tool while using ad-hoc tools (Excel, SQL, BI dashboards, etc.) for problem solving and analysis.
  • Participate in cross-functional and continuous improvement initiatives and process improvement teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Functional & Technical Competencies

Materials Planning System Utilization

  • Effectively uses materials planning systems to manage supply and demand plans.
  • Takes corrective actions on exception messages using root cause analysis.
  • Uses ad-hoc tools such as Excel, Access, TOAD, OMS, etc., while leveraging the planning system as the primary operational tool.

Part Change Control Management

  • Evaluates and implements engineering change requests (obsolescence, supersession, new part releases).
  • Ensures customer delivery requirements are met while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.

Plan for Every Part (PFEP)

  • Applies PFEP principles to ensure the right part is delivered at the right time, quantity, and location.
  • Uses PFEP across the end-to-end supply chain, focusing on master data, planning parameters, engineered flows, transportation, and warehouse management.

Master Supply Scheduling

  • Establishes and maintains a valid Master Production Schedule aligned with customer demand.
  • Ensures procurement, production, and replenishment schedules are aligned with manufacturing and assembly capabilities.

Material Planning

  • Uses advanced tools such as Advanced Planning Command Centre and BI dashboards for parts availability, inventory optimization, and root cause analysis.

Materials KPI Management

  • Interprets KPIs to assess supply chain performance and customer impact.
  • Identifies gaps against targets and drives improvement actions.
  • Strategically balances trade-offs between KPIs to optimize overall performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

  • College, university, or equivalent bachelor’s degree required.

Skills and Experience

  • 6–9 years of experience in supply planning, material planning, or related supply chain functions.
  • Strong understanding of MRP processes and end-to-end procurement.
  • Hands-on experience managing external suppliers.
  • Proficiency in Excel and SQL; exposure to BI or advanced planning tools preferred.
  • Experience working in complex, data-driven, and fast-paced environments.
