Position Overview:

The Novelis Buckhannon team is seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator. The person in this role will report to the EHS Leader and will be responsible for health and safety initiatives and programs, assisting the EHS Leader to drive the site’s EHS programs, safety engagement, ensuring legal and corporate compliance to all relevant legislation and standards, and supporting the plant team in the site’s goal of zero incidents.

• Coordinate Behavioral Based Safety program.
• Responsible for supporting and auditing EHS training programs and deliver training to plant personnel.
• Promoting a collaborative EHS culture, facilitating cooperation and engagement from all team members who have concerns and/or ideas for change
• Supporting the development and maintenance of ISO compliance systems and EHS standard operating procedures or work instructions
• Supporting accident investigation and driving towards root-cause
• Recognizing, evaluating, and controlling employee exposures to industrial risks through the active facilitation of the sites Safety Programs and Policies
• Acting as a resource around WHMIS including management of SDS database, chemical approval, conducting periodic audits of in-plant labeling and hard copy volumes of SDSs, collaborating with JHSC and facilitating related training
• Support the EHS Leader to manage and drive improvements in the company's Health and Safety systems, performance and communications.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in a related field (Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety/Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or Engineering) and preferred experience in Manufacturing.
• Effective time management and organizational skills and ability to work with various levels of the organization.
• Excellent communication skills – written, verbal, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Firm dedication to confidentiality, integrity, and credibility.
• Proficient in computer software – Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other appropriate software.

The Buckhannon facility opened in 1999 to serve the electrical conductor industry and other light-gauge applications primarily 1350 and 1100 alloy products. Since then capabilities have expanded to include the manufacture of 5052 6061 and 3003 alloys for cookware products. Products are produced for mill finish electrical conductors cookware products packaging and distribution. Buckhannon is considered a niche shop employing around 70 people and processing a wide range of products in smaller quantities for many markets and customers.
