The Data Management and Governance Oversight team (DMGO) within the Global Risk and Compliance (GRC) department is tasked with ensuring the reliability of critical data and processes, compliance with regulations, and facilitation of effective risk management practices at American Express. This role will oversee a team of professionals in assessing, challenging, and monitoring the efficacy of enterprise data management practices and controls. Key Responsibilities
- Establish and enforce data management and governance requirements for various data risk types.
- Assess adherence to enterprise standards, guidelines, and policies in managing data assets.
- Develop performance metrics to continually monitor and supervise the data governance program and data management practices.
- Enhance the data governance oversight framework and create procedural documentation.
- Independently review data assets based on prioritized data risk types and applicable data systems/processes.
- Evaluate data management practices on critical data processes to provide insights and recommendations to first-line teams.
- Analyze and question the metadata architecture using metadata tools.
- 2-6 years of experience in data gathering and mining, risk management, data governance, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in data-driven risk analytics, encompassing the analysis of structured and unstructured data, and familiarity with data modeling is preferred.
- Knowledge of advanced MS office tools is must - Ability to credibly challenge the control environment and results of company risk management structures.
- Strong analytical skills necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of data management practices across simple and complex business processes.
- Excellent presentation skills, especially in crafting engaging and informative visual support materials.
- Graduation degree in Engineering, Risk Management or an equivalent field from premier institution will be preferred.
- Understanding of Risk Management practices and knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements is advantageous.
- Data Management (including Data Governance best practices, Metadata Management, 3-N/4-N modeling standards, Data Quality best practices)
- Core Business Management – Financial Industry
- Understanding of Risk Management and its related concepts
- Understanding in Programming Languages such as SQL, Python is preferred.
