Date Posted:2024-03-14 Country:United States of America Location:HKS31: US041-Lenexa, KS 15701 W 95th Street , Lenexa, KS, 66219 USA Position Role Type:Onsite As a Mechanical Engineer for the Collins Aerospace Inserts group, you will be part of an international team of engineers responsible for innovating, designing, and maintaining designs of various galley equipment such as ovens, beverage makers, chillers, and refrigerators. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineer will perform standard engineering assignments usually representing a portion of a larger project. This position selects engineering techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations. Position is eligible for relocation support. Primary Responsibilities:
- Applies standard techniques involving innovations of methodology to provide solutions to problems involving a limited number of variables.
- 3D modeling and 2D drawing preparation, revision, and release using NX Unigraphics.
- Verify regulatory compliance of designs by analytical methods or testing prototypes.
- Solve design issues and verify solutions through analysis and test
- Evaluate materials and parts for use in new designs including communicating with current and new suppliers.
- Operate in a team environment, coordinating with other functional areas such as software, electrical, and manufacturing to providing input to design solutions and participate in design reviews.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
- Degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position
- Experience with hydraulic or pneumatic equipment and system design.
- Experience designing mechanical components and assemblies with an emphasis on manufacturability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Modeling software experience (Unigraphics preferred)
- Basic understanding of electronics
- Be on a career break of one or more year at time of application
- Have prior experience in functional area of interest
- Have interest in returning in either a full-time or part-time position
