We are looking for a talented School to Work - Applied Mechanics Instrumentation to join our team specializing in manufacturing for our Components Business Segment in Seymour, IN.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- In the School-to-Work Program, students will actively participate in assisting with various aspects of Seymour Engine Plant (SEP) Applied Mechanics instrumentation work.
- This involvement encompasses hands-on engagement with sophisticated instrumentation technologies, including but not limited to Strain Gauges, Ultrasonic System Measurements, and Thermocouples.
- Within this context, students will gain practical experience by contributing to tasks related to the installation, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation devices used in engineering applications.
- Specifically, they will assist in the application of Strain Gauges, which are crucial for measuring mechanical strain in materials under various loads, Ultrasonic Systems, utilized for non-destructive testing and measurement in structural components, and Thermocouples, which are pivotal for accurate temperature measurement in engineering contexts.
- Students will actively engage in activities such as preparing test specimens, affixing strain gauges to designated surfaces, configuring and operating ultrasonic measurement systems, and installing thermocouples in strategic locations for temperature monitoring.
- Collaborate with experienced engineers and technicians to troubleshoot instrumentation issues, interpret measurement data, and contribute to comprehensive reports documenting findings and insights.
- Through this immersive experience, students will not only enhance their technical proficiency in instrumentation methodologies but also develop critical skills such as problem-solving, attention to detail, and teamwork.
- By bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application in a real-world setting, students will be well-equipped to navigate the complexities of applied mechanics instrumentation work and excel in their future engineering endeavors.
Qualifications
- Works with peers, skilled trades and support staff to maintain and identify equipment in need of repair.
- Remains flexible and performs other miscellaneous duties, as required, to meet business goals.

Hourly Pay : $14.81
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
