Job Details
Apply technical expertise in the design, implementation, and management of complex and advanced health, safety and environmental (HSE) engineering controls within assigned site. Provide specialized technical support cross-functionally to ensure compliance with Cummins internal requirements, applicable HSE regulations and industry standards. Lead comprehensive hazard identification, environmental aspect identification and risk assessment programs to identify risk improvement opportunities and gaps in HSE compliance obligations. Drive targets and objectives for the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex HSE hazard prevention and control management systems to reduce or eliminate potential risk. Develop and lead training, skills development and internal communications related to hazard prevention and control for employees within sites. Evaluate and interpret site HSE data, legal compliance findings, and internal and external audit results to develop improvement plans using a risk-based, data driven approach. Examine multiple HSE incidents by completing quality, evidence-based investigations with accurate root cause analysis, resulting in effective corrective actions, accurate reporting, and avoidance of repeated incidents. Select and implement risk control methods by utilizing hierarchy of controls to implement sustainable control measures in order to protect Cummins employees by reducing overall risks to as low as reasonably practicable. Collect and analyze HSE data using key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and evaluate performance trends, deliver improvement goals and objectives, determine strategy, and protect employees and the environment. Skills Experience and Education: Positions require a Master’s degree in Environmental or Materials Engineering, or related field and 2 years of experience as a Safety or Environmental Analyst or Engineer, or related position. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Materials Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience as a Safety or Environmental Analyst or Engineer, or related position. Experience to include: Manage compliance for HSE regulations; Hazard and risk assessment; Maintain HSE management systems; Develop hazard prevention training; HSE incident investigation and root cause analysis; Implementation of risk controls; Measure and evaluate HSE performance.
