Date Posted:2024-04-29 Country:United States of America Location:HIA99: Field Office - IA Remote Location, Remote City, IA, 50301 USA Position Role Type:Remote Collins Aerospace is seeking a Human Factors professional to join the Human Factors Engineering group within our Avionics Business Unit. The ideal candidate will support avionics programs with major business, regional, air transport and military OEMs and customers with a focus in certification. This role requires extensive interaction with Human Factors related regulations, advisory circulars, physical and graphical human systems integration, systems engineering process, and user evaluation studies. Knowledge of these processes and/or extensive operational knowledge of Collins Avionics Systems is required. This position is a remote position and would not require relocation. Some travel is expected. Tasks Include:
- Maintain and champion a focus on sound Human Factors and Human Systems Integration.
- Provide Human Factors expertise and guidance in internal and customer technical discussions.
- Creation and maintenance of Human Factors related certification support documents relating to AC25.1302, AC25.1322, and AC25-11B.
- Create Human Engineering Design Approach Documents (HEDAD) and Human Engineering Requirements Checklists (HERCL) for military systems.
- Create and lead human factors testing in lab or flight environments when required for 14 CFR 25.1302 certification programs.
- Participate in new feature design via defining operational concepts, requirements capture, design development, validation, and documentation.
- Develop and execute both pilot workload evaluations and crew error analyses throughout an avionics program’s lifecycle.
- Interface with, and support, system and subsystem engineers, architects, project management and customers through requirements capture, functional & integration testing, and delivery support.
- Participate in industry working groups related to human factors.
- Regularly communicate with certification authorities on program updates, test events, and document review and approvals.
- Supporting pursuits and creating Human Factors bids for both commercial and military systems.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
- Experience in avionics system development.
- Knowledge of avionics applications on a variety of aircraft.
- Strong teamwork, organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively with engineering, leadership, and customers.
- Previous experience with FAA/TC/EASA/JCAB certification.
- Familiarity with systems engineering processes and requirements and design capture tools including JAMA, DOORS, and ClearQuest.
- Effective time management and ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
- Familiarity and experience with MIL-STD-1472, MIL-STD-46855, MIL-STD-1787 and MIL-STD-411
- Familiarity and experience with AC25.1302, AC25.1322, and AC25-11B.
- Pilot experience highly desired.
