The American Express Corporate Affairs & Communications (CA&C) team is a strategic function that works to enhance and protect the continued strength of the American Express brand through public relations, social media, colleague communications, corporate sustainability and ESG initiatives.
Based in New York City, the Manager of Communications for Resy and American Express Global Dining, Restaurant & Colleague Communications, will report to the Director of Communications for Resy and American Express Global Dining, within the CA&C U.S. Consumer Services team.
We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented communications expert with exceptional writing skills, strong media relations skills, an ability to craft and produce stories across mediums, and an established understanding of the dining industry. Responsibilities will include developing and driving communications programs that reach and resonate with Resy’s restaurant customers and the broader hospitality industry. The role will also support internal communications that keep colleagues within the Amex Global Dining organization and across Amex informed of activities within the dining business. Candidates should excel at working with peers across teams and comfortable working with senior leaders and providing strategic counsel.
How will you make an impact in this role?
- Work with the Director to develop a strategy that supports the Global Dining organization’s restaurant-focused priorities
- Bring creative ideas to the table and implement compelling thought leadership programs, industry initiatives, and media campaigns
- Bring an external perspective to the role reflective of the dining and hospitality technology landscape, including competitive set and restaurant owner sentiment
- Build and foster strong relationships with key stakeholders including colleagues, media and the restaurant industry
- Proactively pitch stories to a wide range of press and field/respond to media requests
- Act as a spokesperson on behalf of the company
- Write internal memos, messages, taking points, Q&As, press releases, social media posts
- Provide strategic counsel and support to leadership
- Collaborate across multiple teams within CA&C (e.g., Amex merchant, Shop Small, corporate card, technology & innovations, social media) to tell the strongest possible story about how American Express and Resy back restaurants
- Oversee public relations agencies, manage PR budgets
- Minimum 7+ years of professional experience in public relations
- Strong writing and editing skills, with ability to tell impactful stories across mediums
- Creative thinker who pitches relevant ideas that resonate with press and restaurant audiences
- Self-motivated, agile team player who can bring an idea from concept to production
- Ability to collaborate across many teams and a large organization, manage multiple priorities and deadlines, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with and manage PR agencies effectively
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint
- Experience working with dining and/or technology businesses
- PR agency experience
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
