Meet Emily Carson, a Seattle-based Technical Sourcer at Expedia Group. As a technical sourcer, Emily contributes to our mission to power global travel for everyone, everywhere by finding the talent to do so.

But Emily isn’t just busy finding the next Expedians – she’s also an avid triathlete! Fourteen years ago, Emily dove into the world of triathlons and eventually took the leap into IRONMAN races. Guided by her coach Branden Scheel, she follows a personalized and structured AI training plan, all while successfully balancing her work responsibilities.

Her heavy training schedule recently prepared her to compete in her first full IRONMAN in Tempe Arizona, which consisted of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and 26.2 mile run. Leading up to this big race, she utilized our company travel benefits to visit multiple cities including Wilmington, NC, Morro Bay, CA, Coeur D’alene, ID, Kona, Hi, Milwaukee, Wi and more to compete in half ironman and olympic distance races.

Emily came into her first IRONMAN competition as prepared as she could have been. She attended training camps with her team, Branden Scheel Racing, and prioritized her physical and mental well-being with the help of our healthcare benefits. This resulted in her qualifying for the Women’s World Championship IRONMAN in Nice, France! She is excited to take her triathlon hobby abroad and visit Europe for the first time, combining her passion for triathlons with the opportunity to explore.

At Expedia Group, Emily has found the perfect training ground for both her career and her triathlon passion. Our flexible and supportive work environment provides her with the opportunity to balance her professional commitments while pursuing her dream of traveling to compete in the sport she loves.
