How to Leverage Your Military Background for Project Management
Supporting Veterans, Active Service Members & Military Spouses
Transitioning out of the military and into a fulfilling civilian role can be difficult.
In the military, service members walk away with the skills to innovate, lead, act as individual contributors, be self-disciplined, and respond under pressure.

She has experience in leading large-scale complex change initiatives in various industries from government to private sector. In her Naval military career, Tanya served six years as an Electronics Technician with primary duties being related to Satcom and UHF communications.
She was stationed aboard the USS Bataan for 3.5 years and ended her military career at NAS Oceana.
Bill Herr
Bill Herr has been executing network security projects as well as datacenter integrations both domestically as well as complex international projects.
Bill’s experience is mainly in technology-focused, customer-facing accounts.
In his military career, Bill served over 22 years in the Coast Guard completing his career as the command senior enlisted advisor for the Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound where he was responsible for the readiness of all units in Connecticut and on Long Island in New York.
Invaluable skills for any career.
Enlisting in the military can offer the opportunity to make a difference, and transitioning to civilian life can be difficult, especially when seeking meaningful work.
The thirst to continue to make an impact led Myriad360’s VP of Program & Project Management, Tanya Steele, and Project Manager, Bill Herr, to seek roles in project management.
As a project manager, you get to focus on the bigger picture by influencing outcomes, helping solve problems, and working on projects that affect the lives of others. It’s a challenging atmosphere that requires learning, innovation, and creativity – just like the military.
Many of the skills that service members gain are transferable and vital to successful careers. Tanya and Bill want to share the different opportunities available in this field for veterans and how to anticipate and prepare for the challenges that can come with them.
