Starting a LGTBQ+ Affinity Group at Your Organization

PRIDE: CHAMPIONING LGBTQIA+ LEADERS & ALLIES

Need help starting a LGBTQ+ affinity group at work? Look no further than this session with Workiva’s Jared Hayes, Lead Customer Success Manager, and Megan Phillips, Manager of Client Onboarding. They’ll relate how they started their group at Workiva, including how they were supported by the company and how the group has grown. They’ll also share their top tips for how you can start your own affinity group at your workplace.

Jared Hayes

Bridget Finkeldey

I have been with Workiva for 8.5 years as a Customer Success Manager. We have a great work culture at Workiva that I have been fortunate enough to see evolve and mature over the years. I helped establish our affinity group for LGBTQ+ individuals early 2017 and have co-lead it since then. Since then it has been renamed and reformed to the Workiva Rainbow Business Employee Resource Group (BERG).
On a personal side, I lived and taught English in Japan for 3 years before Workiva, and I studied Japanese in high school and college. I consider the Japanese language and culture a big part of my life. For hobbies, I love playing video games, playing volleyball outdoors, going on hikes in the mountains, reading books, going to concerts, and watching movies/shows.

Megan Phillips

Bridget Finkeldey

I am originally from Oklahoma and now reside in Iowa. I have been married for almost 9 years to my wife Ashley. I have been with Workiva for 9 and a half years and along with Jared found the original Affinity group in 2017. In my spare time I am a community board member for Re-Inc (a gender neutral clothing company). Other than that, I am a huge soccer and softball fan (Let's go OU!) and love to travel.
