How These Companies Support Their Veterans and Military Families

Veterans Day, originally called Armistice Day, is celebrated every year on November 11th. This date was first proclaimed a US holiday by president Widrow Wilson in 1919, exactly one year after the cease-fire between Germany and the Allied Nations effectively ended World War I.

At present, Veterans Day is generally celebrated with a day off from work or school to dedicate time to honor those who have served in the armed forces. Although this holiday comes just once a year, at PowerToFly, we believe it is crucial to support veterans, active duty military, military spouses, and their families all year round.

So, in commemoration of Veterans Day 2022, we’ve put together this list of companies that will be honoring Veterans Day this year as well as providing support for veteran employees and their families all year long.

“CDW proudly supports veterans, active military and their families in the community as well as the workplace. We provide rewarding career opportunities for veterans that utilize their valuable experience and unique attributes. Some of the military benefits we offer include differential pay, health coverage and support and development through our Military & Allies Resource Council (MARC) BRG. To celebrate Veterans Day, MARC is hosting an event with the theme ‘Adapt and Overcome’ featuring guest speaker J.R. Martinez.”

Last month they gathered virtually for a "Moment of Silence" in remembrance of the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and share how 9/11 changed their lives. Recently, Vets@Okta's Executive Chair met with a senior White House official to discuss military spouse employment, which includes partnering with Women@Okta. Vets@Okta is assembling a photo wall display in its Washington office to showcase Okta's commitment to its military veterans. Vets@Okta donated $3,500 for humanitarian relief this year and Veterans Day is an Okta holiday providing everyone a chance to rest and reflect.”

50 diversity & inclusion survey questions you need to ask

Diversity and inclusion survey questions are tricky. To get at the information you’re looking for, they can’t be too long, too numerous, too specific, too vague, or too repetitive. You need to create that Goldilocks-style “just right” kind of survey. Diversity and inclusion survey questions also need to be rooted in a larger data collection strategy that informs why, how, and how often you survey your employees. Too often, and responses drop off. Too infrequent and your data doesn’t reflect a proper sample.

Above all, you want to get at the heart of if and how your Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) efforts are having an impact. Bear in mind that every organization’s environment is unique. Today, we’ll share sample diversity survey questions that work. Remember, modifications should be made as appropriate. To make things easy, we’ve also included a diversity and inclusion survey template to power your survey efforts from start-to-finish. Ready to get started?
