Gone are the days when business analysis was done by executives sitting in a conference room. Now, businesses use complex data and analytics models to calculate cost, profitability, and risk. Lakshmi Purushothaman and Sarah Jiang of Freddie Mac discuss this evolution, and what’s needed in the world of data science to help businesses address their current and future challenges. Lakshmi is Freddie Mac’s Executive of Innovation in Data Science, Engineering, and Analytics, and her colleague Sarah is the Senior Director of Enterprise Risk.
Lakshmi currently oversees the Innovation in Data Science, Engineering and Analytics team for the Single-Family Modeling, Econometrics, Data and Analytics (MEAD), a unit that works with complex, large volume and variety of data to perform intelligent analytics and drive business decisions at Freddie Mac.
Sarah currently leads EMR’s central validation function to drive quality and consistency in model validation methodologies enterprise wide as well as provide end-to-end risk oversight throughout the lifecycle of high-risk models.
