In life we wear many different hats but they are all part of who we are and what makes us great. For this discussion, we are joined by DE&I consultant Mx. Joshua Rosario King to discuss the concept of intersectionality and what that means for our lives and careers.
Mx. Joshua Rosario King (Joshua)
Joshua Rosario King has a passion for volunteering and giving back to the community. Their journey began in the non- profit industry working with the LGBTQIA community as an HIV counselor, and outreach worker for Gay Men of African Descent. (GMAD) From there it grew into becoming a board member for The Lower Eastside Harm Reduction Center, Recruiter for Village Care of New York, Benefits trainer, and group facilitator for Aids Service Center of NYC and an overall Health Educator.
This passion eventually grew into a lifelong career and shifted over time to Corporate America. Joshua grew into Customer Service, Training, Learning and Development and Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion. Previously, Chairperson of an ERG for a Tech company they were able to lead the initiative to create change by meeting with c-suite, updating policies, getting hire pay, inclusive language training, hiring senior management, creating, and hosting educational lunch &learns, and virtual cultural celebrations.
Joshua has worked with Gilead as a spoke model, and a speaker to HR departments globally; Which in the future led to becoming a panelist for Safe Space at Ingenio, Event Speaker with Power to Fly
Currently at UHG he is a Senior Advocate4me DSNP Navigator, Cultural Ambassador, and encourages DEI education within his team.
Joshua earned a certification in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education. Furthering his knowledge of DEI work he took part in a 4-part training series, exploring the fundamentals of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging in the workplace with PowerToFly’s DEIB experts. Joshua also has several certifications which include Emotional Intelligence, Unconscious bias, Strategies to Foster Inclusive Language at Work, Mentoring Others and more.
