Amplifying Black Excellence
Limiting the narrative around Black achievement still regularly plays out in our media today. According to Nielsen, while representation of Black talent on television today is high, 16% in 2020, the themes and roles African Americans are most often seen in are limited primarily to reality shows, drama, horror, sports, music, and “urban” themed programming. This panel will feature Michelle Fisher, an accomplished television journalist and host with experience telling stories for traditional news, entertainment, and digital media alongside “Nurse Alice” Benjamin: mom, wellness advocate, media personality, and entrepreneur specializing in cardiovascular health as a nationally board-certified and award-winning Clinical Nurse Specialist.
