To celebrate Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, PowerToFly hosted our annual summit honoring global Asian and Pacific Islander identities featuring a full day of fireside chats, workshops and networking. We followed this full day of activities with an interactive job fair featuring hundreds of open roles.
Yashovardhan Agrawal kicked off the event by bringing valuable tech perspectives from India before hearing from James Cheng, the Global Executive of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Zimmer Biomet. We were thrilled to hear from career coach Joyce Guan West on cultivating leadership and seasoned executive Tami DeWeese on career transitions. Accomplished speaker Amy Yip walked us through a workshop on building mental fitness while filmmaker Jethro Cuenca Patalinghug discussed how we can better celebrate queer AAPI identities. We wrapped up our live talks by hearing from author Kyla Zhao about her book "Valley Verified" and her adventure in Silicon Valley.
We were especially grateful to host talks by our event sponsors UnitedHealth Group and Vizient. Anne Chang, VP People Team at Optum Health Care Solutions delved into the transformative power of supportive networks while Vizient's Tek Vu and Kha Nguyen explored the challenges and triumphs of embracing cultural identity while discovering strategies to foster an inclusive workplace culture that celebrates diversity.
The event featured a number of recordings from past talks including "Transforming Travel Through Tech: Inside Expedia Group India" as well as conversations on "How Asian Americans Transformed Pop Culture", "Uplifting the PI in AAPI" and "Embracing Cultural Confidence® the Powerful Intersection of Mental Health & Asian Identity".
