When Brittany returned to the programmatic media partner MiQ after six months of fully paid parental leave — a rarity in the U.S. — she stepped back into a workplace that not only welcomed her but had actively planned for her return. She didn’t feel like she had to catch up or prove herself all over again. Instead, she was supported, given space to adjust, and encouraged to continue growing her career, just as she had before.
"MiQ does a great job of making sure you’re secure and that your time away is supported so you’re actually able to enjoy it," Brittany shares.
That wasn’t a fluke. It’s the way MiQ operates.
Brittany’s career trajectory at MiQ is a story of growth, one that started before she became a mother and has continued well after. She joined as a senior sourcer and is now a senior global talent acquisition business partner, a title that reflects her expanding role and influence.
We sat down with Brittany to learn what makes career growth at MiQ different and how the company supports employees — parents included — at every stage of their journey.
A job that grows with you
When an MiQ recruiter reached out to Brittany, she was curious — but she wasn’t looking to make a move just for the sake of it.
"At that time in my career, I was looking for an opportunity that would allow me more career growth, autonomy, and opportunity for impact," she explains.
A quick LinkedIn search told her everything she needed to know. She noticed that many of MiQ’s leaders had been with the company for years. "That indicated a few things to me," Brittany says. "People don’t stay somewhere for five, seven, nine-plus years if they’re not receiving what they need in terms of professional fulfillment."
That initial impression held true. Brittany joined MiQ as a senior sourcer, but she didn’t stay in that role for long. Over the past three and a half years, she has taken on new challenges, expanded her responsibilities, and grown into her current position as a senior global talent acquisition business partner.
MiQ’s culture makes that kind of growth possible. The company runs its teams lean — not to overwork employees, but to create opportunities. Employees are encouraged to raise their hands, try new things, and take the lead on initiatives.
"There is always an opportunity to say, ‘Hey, I have an idea. What if we tried this?’" Brittany shares. And if that idea works? "Great, we can scale it to the global business."
Six months away, zero steps back
Brittany’s career at MiQ was on an upward trajectory when a new challenge appeared. This time, it had nothing to do with resume reviews and recruitment quotas.
She was going to be a mom.
Would taking a break slow her momentum? Turns out, Brittany didn’t have to worry. MiQ offers six months of fully paid parental leave to employees who have been with the company for at least six months, one of the most generous policies in the industry. But for Brittany, the real differentiator was the support offered before, during, and after leave.
"Before I left, they helped me think about what I could do to set myself up for success when I came back — kind of thinking about my future self," Brittany explains. "And when I returned, there was a coaching program and a buddy system to help me reintegrate into the business. You’re partnered with someone in the business who has gone on leave before, and they’re your sounding board. It’s someone to lean on through that transition. MiQ also offers professional development like growth coaching for returning to work.”
That made all the difference. “MiQ is a very people-oriented business, and that comes from the top down,” she says. “Work will always be there. But you only get that time with your family once."
How MiQ invests in its people
Brittany’s story isn’t a one-off success; career growth is the norm at MiQ.
"When I’m speaking to candidates, I always tell people that we love to grow and promote internally," Brittany says. "If you're looking for a place to get your foot in the door on something cutting-edge, that’s constantly evolving, MiQ is the place to do that."
The company backs that up with structured learning and development opportunities designed to help employees move up. A global learning and development team provides training and resources, while the vice president of people growth works directly with employees to map out their career progression.
Managers at MiQ also take an active role in employee growth, helping team members create step-by-step development plans. "Our managers are very hands-on when it comes to growth," Brittany explains. "They’ll sit down and say, ‘Here’s where you are, here’s where you want to go, and here’s how we’ll get you there.’"
Brittany smiles and says, "We invest in our people because we know they’re the key to our success.”
