How top companies celebrate the year-end

There’s something special about the year-end at work. Things slow down a little, teams reflect on what they built together, and people start showing up to Zoom calls in questionable sweaters. It’s a chance to celebrate wins big and small, and to close out the season with a sense of connection. The best part? Every company does it differently. Some plan a big party. Others shut the office and tell everyone to go rest. Plenty find creative ways to give back, recognize teammates, or sprinkle in extra time off.

This month, we’re highlighting top companies that know how to make the year-end meaningful. Their traditions are simple, smart, and focused on the people who bring the work to life. From closing offices to team volunteer days, here’s how these workplaces celebrate the season with their teams.

Elastic

Every December, Elasticians around the world celebrate Decemberfest, our way of wrapping up the year with connection, gratitude, and fun. Whether it’s coming together for an evening of festive fun in a hub city, hosting a local cluster event with our ElastiFUNd program, or joining a virtual team celebration — it’s all about spending time together and reflecting on what we’ve achieved. We share our favorite recipes in the Elastic Holiday Cookbook, support causes we care about on Giving Tuesday with Benevity Bucks, and spread a little Elastic cheer to end the year on a high note.

Delivery Hero

To wrap things up, we’re celebrating with Hero Give Thanks Week. A cozy, gratitude-themed experience at Delivery Hero HQ. The space will glow with seasonal decoration, and each day brings little surprises: a Community Potluck Corner, a Gratitude Wall, the Hero Photo Station, and employee-led workshops.

It’s a moment to pause, connect, and reflect on the year together. Anchored in our Leadership Principles “Stay Humble” and “Bring Good Vibes,” the week champions recognition, appreciation, and cross-team connection, and supports our wellbeing culture with time and space for reflection, connection, and joy.

As part of our commitment to well-being and work-life balance, we observe a two-week holiday shutdown, giving our teams the opportunity to rest, recharge, and spend meaningful time with loved ones. It’s our way of saying thank you while setting the stage for a strong start to the new year.

Shure

Each holiday season, Shure teams come together with purpose to celebrate and reflect on the achievements that made this year extraordinary.

Our annual corporate holiday event begins with a live brass ensemble filling the morning with cheerful energy followed by an Associate luncheon featuring themed food stations that showcase global flavors and fun. In true Shure fashion, the day closes with what we do best: a live music performance by talented Shure Associate bands.

The festivities extend beyond headquarters as well. From festive bingo in Denmark to decorating contests in India, our global offices bring their own cultural flair to the season. And true to Shure’s Core Values, Associates volunteer in their communities, craft greeting cards for children’s hospitals, and spread joy where it’s needed most.

At Shure, the holiday season isn’t just celebrated—it’s amplified.
