Every organization has subject-matter experts. The challenge is corralling their knowledge in a format and vehicle that’s easily accessible. The Pitney Bowes Global Talent Development Team recently made the Easygenerator e-learning tool available to associates, with the goal of supporting internal training initiatives. We were excited to recently host our first all-company hackathon to create and build out learning content via this platform.
Easygenerator enables anyone, from subject-matter experts to others involved within the learning space, to create and share interactive content to upskill the workforce. It enables collaboration and sharing of best practices on an easily-accessible platform.
Engagement across business units and roles
During the hackathon, Pitney Bowes employees from across the globe came together to participate in two separate workshops to support training initiatives across multiple business units: Customer service, field operations support and transportation were among the many business units and roles represented. The engagement across business units and geographic locations made for an exciting event.
The winning team created a course called, “Communicating in today’s environment.” It’s a wonderful example of interactive, immersive e-learning with plenty of helpful voiceover instructions and embedded videos. They did a great job putting themselves in the learner’s position, even including an accessibility piece to allow inclusivity. Well done!
Amanda Whiston, Team Lead Customer Service, commented on the experience: “The voiceover tools were helpful. We enjoyed using interactive tools to explore the Easygenerator capabilities. And we made sure everything from the font to the page details were uniform, creating a visually appealing training piece.”
Keeping content up to date
A helpful Easygenerator feature is the ease with which subject matter experts can update their learning content. In the past, it could be time-consuming and expensive to update materials, but with Easygenerator, users can edit as they go. With the fast-changing technology environment we are working in, frequent changes are common, so Easygenerator is a real benefit to our Talent Development program.
One takeaway that all agreed about: Sharing your best practices is a best practice.
