Mental health support - and understanding

Below is an article originally written by Joanne Nieves. Go to Pitney Bowes's company page on PowerToFly to see their open positions and learn more.

One in five people in the U.S. face mental health challenges. But less than half of people who need support actually get it. One common obstacle to accessing care is the belief that symptoms aren’t severe or important enough to warrant one-on-one attention. But the truth is, everyone can benefit from support.

At Pitney Bowes we believe that all have a role to play in helping each other break through these barriers. Pursuing mental health care early can help:
  • Alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression
  • Improve personal and professional relationships
  • Build skills to address mental health problems that may arise in the future
You might have heard of both “coaching” and “therapy” – and it can be confusing. During Counseling Awareness Month (May in the U.S.), we shared a guide from our benefits partner, Lyra Health, to outline the differences between the two.More about Lyra: Pitney Bowes employees can receive 12 free counseling or coaching sessions per year with a licensed therapist. Lyra is also available to family household members. Care options include:
  • Mental health coaching: Get to the root of challenges with effective care from a mental health coach via video or live messaging.
  • In-person video & therapy: Meet with a therapist for diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions like depression, PTSD and more.
  • Guided self-care with a coach: Getting a care plan crafted by a Lyra coach and learn new mental health strategies at your own pace.
  • Medication management: Consult with a specialized physician on mental health medications. (For medication, fee applies based on medical plan coverage guidelines.)
  • Lyra Essentials: Tap into self-led wellness tools anytime, anywhere.
Lyra is available 24/7 to our employees in the U.S., affording the flexibility to receive care. Here's more about Pitney Bowes robust offerings to help employees care for their physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
